Hello
This is my little dog, Lucy. Actually all things considered, she's my roommates dog, and she pisses me off sometimes, but I still think she's cute. When he goes to work in the wee hours of morning, she comes into my room and spoons with me in bed, right under the covers! It makes me feel loved.
I bought a new camera the other day (a Panasonic DMC-TZ5) and it's pretty decent. 10x optical zoom, 10 MP, 28mm lens, some form of HD video taking that I haven't investigated yet. I may have mentioned that I slipped my old Nikon L4 into my pocket when I was boating with friends a couple of weekends ago and yeah...I jumped into the water with it. It didn't short circuit or anything but it's not happy. Besides, it was time for a new one anyway.
I'm boarding the Amtrak for Seattle tomorrow. On Tuesday I'll be seeing one of my fav. singers, Nick Cave (with The Bad Seeds) at The Showbox. He never comes up here! At least not since that Lollapalooza back in the 90's when he got booed off the stage and pelted with stuff. An appreciative bunch, those Lower Mainland alterna-trendy kids. I never went to that show so don't blame me. I would never do that anyway.
After spending a day in Seattle, I'm going to take the (expensive!) ferry to Victoria and hang with Jim Kirk, everyone's favorite full-body tattooed pappa bear that we've all seen here or there at some point. Admit it, you have a crush on him. I don't blame you. THEN...my buddy is coming over to Vic. and we're going on an ADVENTURE! We're not sure where we'll go, but probably just "up island" somewhere. Somewhere where we can stay cheap with a view.
Now I WAS going to continue on down to San Francisco after Seattle but decided it wasn't economically feasible so if you all had your calendars marked with fluorescent pens "ROB NICKEL IN TOWN" with little stickers of bees and flowers around it, I'm sorry. I will get down there again sometime and I'm sincerely saddened that I'll be missing Folsom, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
Alright, clearly I'm delirious again. I need food in a big way, so I'm going to go out and suss out the possibilities of a taco salad somewhere. White Spot. No not that white spot on my good towel. "White Spot" the chain of "family restaurants" that are ubiquitous in the Lower Mainland here. Where they come up with these names I'll never know. Would you believe there used to be a "White Lunch" diner downtown? How revolting! OK...now that I've been put off my dinner....off I go.
